24-hour party people know to go to Miami. By day you’ll be hanging out at beach bars and by night, after a super-glamorous change, you’ll be strutting your stuff up the red carpet of one of the hottest clubs in town. The most ‘colourful’ nightlife is found on South Beach Miami. The hostels in Miami have picked up on the party atmosphere and many have on-site bars, roof terraces and games rooms, making it easy to meet fellow travellers. You can also ensure you have more money for drinks and club entries by getting them free with some hostels and waking up to a delicious free breakfast the next day at others. Here are two great examples:

Post 250

July 12, 2011 · 8 comments

I originally wrote this as an Aprils fools post, I was going to declare myself as leaving blogging because I didn’t want to do it anymore and was happy with life without it. However being in Japan after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami; it seemed inappropriate to fit in some April fools joke, more serious things needed to be addressed at that time. Then I noticed I was quickly approaching my 250th post so could adapt it somewhat (admittedly 3 months later). I never had a 2 year post, or a year review post in 2010-2011, but the 1/4 mille milestone seemed the next appropriate one to look back at what I’ve achieved since blogging here.

Well I sold this thing after living in it for 6 months

So this is one of those re-capping posts and an update on my life at the moment as I’ve currently been busy filling this blog up with guest posts rather than finding time to write my own material.

Slovenia

Slovenia? It’s more like sLOVEnia.

I have never been to a country in Europe where a €30 – €60 a day budget was actually realistically possible. You must be thinking that there must be a bad reason why Slovenia is so cheap. Well, I’m not an economist but Slovenia is a third of the price than neighbouring Italy and Austria and has ALWAYS been cheaper than Hungary and Croatia. Sounds like backpacker’s dream to me….And it certainly is. For tips, I looked at My Destination Slovenia. It prepared me with everything I needed to know.

During my travels, I have only had one day visiting vineyards and wineries. I blogged about it my time in these Australian wineries previously. While I only spent one day visiting them, I visited around 7. This included a chocolate tasting place and a beer brewery too. One great thing about them is they are often closely located, and you get to try awesome new things. I didn’t know I liked Rye Whisky for example, but after trying it at one of them I’m a big fan now.

Sampling Sydney

June 30, 2011 · 7 comments

This is a guest post from Matilda Lambert.

Sydney is a place that evokes the mind. Ask someone about Sydney and they’ll conjure up the infamous Opera House beneath blue skies and backed by the outstanding harbour Bridge, all brimming with happy, tanned people and more culture and shops than you can shake a stick at. Sounds too good to be true, but Sydney delivers.
