August 12, 2011 · 4 comments

This is a guest post from Alex Sayers. Alex is from England dreams of travelling the world on a cultural odyssey, seeking out new adventures, fantastic experiences and seeing all the sights one exciting country at a time!

A couple of years ago a few friends and I were looking for somewhere cheap we could go to, and having browsed MyDestination.com/Krakow, we settled on Krakow in Poland. Krakow is ideal for anyone looking for a good mix of fun nightlife and cultural sights, and everything is cheap enough for students or backpackers, and we really loved it!

Comiket Tokyo

Comiket is a shortened name derived from Comic Market. As I mentioned in an old post on how busy is Comiket? Comiket now attracts half a million visitors per each 3 day event (known as the summer and winter Comiket). It is a free event but they encourage sales of the Comiket catalougue, detailing what is on the stands each day. It is an epic book itself, about the same size as the bible and Qur’an combined… but with more pictures obviously!

It is the worlds largest gathering on self published comic books, known as dōjinshi in Japan (and the world for that matter). The vast majority of displays are amateurs but some professional artists turn up to sell their work (which is often sold on afterwards up to 10x as much due to them being rare). Ontario

July 24, 2011 · 4 comments

This is a guest post from Michal Kniec, after completing a History degree in Canada, he decided that a little change of scenery would do him some good and moved across the world to Manchester. Now studying law, he loves to write, cook, and travel as much as possible on this pale blue dot.

It was 4 in the morning, maybe 5, when I got the call from a friend telling me that he’ll visit my home in London, Ontario, Canada within the next few days. Not completely awake, I agreed to show him around and immediately went back to sleep. Waking up a few hours later I realized that I had quite a task ahead of me. He had already been to Canada and I knew that he wanted to see something more than the average tourist. Having lived in my destination, Ontario most of my life I knew my way around and quickly created an itinerary for us to follow. When he arrived I was more than ready, and we both set off on an extra-ordinary trek across the province.

Pristine sandy beaches, vibrant city life, dramatic landscape, history in abundance, wine and wildlife, is there anything I have missed out? Probably. Cape Town is one of the most richly diverse cities in the world. Whether you’re simply stopping off for a few days before heading down the garden route or spending your entire holiday here, there is something to keep everyone entertained. I found out a bit more about Cape Town before I went my having a perusal of mydestination.com/capetown.

The first thing I wanted from my holiday was relaxation, I’d decided not to stay by the waterfront but around the coast in Camps Bay, so stunning beach and chilled cafes were Read the rest! \(^u^)/ →
