Turtle Island

Returning back to land after visiting turtle island, I spotted the big Sandakan mosque. Lim picked me up from the jetty, it was also his birthday so happy birthday Lim!

Turtle Power! (Part 2)

The turtle was swaying her back legs burying where her eggs dropped. We had missed the event! Still it was nice to see the turtle up close, they are bigger then I imagined; on average they are 1M long, and about 95cm in diameter over the shell. Seligan island, which is also known as Turtle Island, it is one of 3 islands in the Sandakan area which are classified as a National Park due to turtle landings.

The reason behind the name is because this seems to be the favourite island for the local turtle population to come and lay eggs. This trip was to see those eggs being laid. Read the rest! \(^u^)/ →
