Thailand Jungle Trekking Day 2

Firstly I’d like to state waking up in the jungle and realising you forgot to put up a mosquito net is not too pleasant. A lot of anti-septic cream later, we set off through the rest of the village passing the nearby school, where even English lessons are part of the curriculum.

Of course the rain then joined in, we seemed to lose the dogs overnight too, maybe they didn’t fancy the wet trip.

We passed another village and a lot of family run wet rice fields, the neighbouring families often help each other out in their work too if one family seems to grow a lot one year. There was 2 types of rice too, one which was kept constantly watered and one which was only watered when it rained (still a lot asĀ  it turns out).

Shortly afterwards we arrived at our waterfall destination for the night. After a quick dip and dive it started raining which put a stop to our hopes of having a fire going through the night, so we settled down under the roofed section to play the card game shithead, aka shithole to the Czech boys, and again more drink and man eating tiger leeches.

The rice fields are exactly how I imagine Cuba after reading Guerilla Warfare! I hope you read that book before I get back, it will really give you an interest in South America I think!

Not going to read any more books until I’m back on the road again, too busy to read unfortunately at this moment in time.
