Adventure

Over the past few months I have been posting a fair amount on campervan living and how to get the most out of living in one. I had an enjoyable 6 months in mine and learnt a lot so I thought I’d finish off with a bit of a joke post…. The Ideal Home photo essay.

But firstly a quick recap on the previous campervan series posts.

Whether You Should Buy or Rent a Campervan – Start here before you set off on your travels, I have the answer for this question.

How to Pick the right Campervan for Travel – If you don’t have yours yet, this post is essential reading.

Where to Find a Place to Park and Sleep in a Campervan – I never paid for this in my entire 6 months.

Eating in a Campervan – Meal ideas, and how a gas stove won’t stop you making amazing meals.

Washing in a Campervan – The ever popular question – how do you keep clean in a campervan? is answered here.

Washing Clothing in a Campervan – For those who’ve lived with a washing machine all their life and can’t find the space for one in their van.

Tinting Windows for a Campervan – Essential in a hot environment and remarkably cheap to DIY it.

Keeping Your Campervan Maintained – The basics are covered in simple terms to make your vehicle and life a lot more easier!

Anyway, on with the photo essay of what you’d expect from an ideal house… Read the rest! \(^u^)/ →

This post is not just appropriate for camper vans, but any vehicle you intend to do a long distance road trip with. With things like the Mongol rally becoming popular and modern cars being reliable with just an annual service, many people are venturing off on adventures without preparation and becoming disappointed, frustrated and out of pocket when a mechanical failure stops everything. A bit of preparation will stop you claiming on your travel insurance and help you maximise your trip enjoyment.

Previously before I got into travelling, I was heavily into cars, they were my main hobby. Although that doesn’t mean much if you don’t get your head under a bonnet and just like the pretty bits. Fortunately (?) I did, and spent an entire year converting my blown engine (thanks to an ex-girlfriend) into a supercharged uprated machine capable of much more. This was on a 24 year old Toyota too, not a modern car. So now you know my credentials on the subject, I’m going to break it down into simple steps to preventing problems and covering the basics to get you over 80% of issues you’ll likely experience. However, if your vehicle has serious mechanical issues, bringing it to an auto body repair shop is highly recommended.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to keep the phone (boo) but I certainly enjoyed playing with it for a bit, coming from a Nokia 5800 and many other Nokias before, I got familiar quickly. Anyway, before I get too deep into the review, here is the video I submitted to the competition, it is of where I’m living in Japan at the moment.

I have recently found out about a new show starting on Discovery Channel called ‘Walking the Amazon’. Basically some guy goes off on an adventure. Fun ensues. Sounds familiar to me and I am looking forward to watching it. Here is a sneak preview I have of it that is well worth a look:
