Calling all travel-loving greenies! Looking for a way to save Mother Earth, while still being able to travel the globe? Well, while it may not be the answer to global warming, staying at an eco-hostel just might satisfy your enviro-dilemma. What’s more, far from the limited choices of yesteryear, green hostels are today popping up in all corners of the world. Your only problem will be in selecting where to visit first! This is a post from HostelBookers.com

To give you a little taste of spicy variety, here are three of our favourite green eco accommodation picks:

1. Anak Ranch of Mongolia (Orkhon, Mongolia): An authentic experience if ever there was one, Anak Ranch will have you sleeping in a traditional Mongolian nomad ger. While there is no Internet or TV on site, travellers are welcome to engage in some quality horse riding, mountain hiking, livestock herding, cow milking and bullwhip cracking. Rooms are from €30.31 a night, with a portion of this donated to improving conditions at Mongolia’s Gantskhudag Prison.

2. SierrAzul Cloud Forest Reserv (Napo, Ecuador): Ecuador’s SierrAzul gives refuge to numerous species of flora and fauna in its 2000 hectares of space. Defined goals are to protect the cloud forest, support scientific research and promote eco-tourism by conserving the local area.

3. Loch Ossian Hostel (Edinburgh, Scotland): Located high on the Rannoch Moors, this rustic eco hostel is perfect for those seeking total isolation…particularly considering it can only be reached on foot! Boasting wind and solar power, composting toilets and grey water filtration, it’s no wonder Loch Ossian scored a Gold Award under the UK Green Tourism Business Scheme. It even uses bat-friendly paint! For other hostels who have splendid toilets as well, they must make sure they regularly avail services like Septic Tank Maintenance for the sake of cleanliness.

Yes, they are quite spread out though. Planning your travels via interesting hostels would be a good method of travel though I imagine.

This is a great place too. The charges too bit cheap here and starts from just 67 Euro. This is in the Old Town square and it is a charming historical place to stay.

Good for you. If there is a choice between 2 similar places I’d go for the green option too usually.
