With Sydney back from his KL business trip, it was straight back to action, I asked if we could go for some Laksa for breakfast, a Kuching speciality (Sydney informed me that the Penang version is sour and creamy whilst the Kuching one is hot and spicy). I wasn’t even sure what Laksa was, but as it turns out, its a bowl of noodles, with bean sprouts a few shrimps and chicken strips in with a curry flavour sauce over it, I enjoyed it anyhow, it wasn’t too hot or spicy either.

After that and with a few friends we headed out to the waterfall. This is not in any guidebooks or even well known in Kuching, it is a 2 hour drive out in a secluded area and only really known by the natives, it’s near a place called Palm Beach resort but even if you stayed there you’d have trouble finding it; there are no signs and its down a few back roads and requires a few minutes walk through the jungle to find.

Walking through the jungle to find the secret waterfall
However after the long drive it’s clear why these guys keep coming back and want to keep it a secret, it is completely unspoilt Everyone was keen to get in and enjoy the fresh running water.

Waterfalls always make a good playground
Beers were shared and people began jumping in the deeper part of the water, whilst others enjoyed the slow running fall suitable for showering or the heavier fall suitable for powerful massaging!

A spot of human fishing whilst we are here:

Don't think he caught anything
After climbing the top of the waterfall, I noticed further up there was an even bigger waterfall, Sydney had never ventured out that far before but from afar the bigger waterfall looked even prettier so I had to go over and take a picture.

After that, we headed to the beach for some food, the beach was pretty naff, but we moved on and found a place called palm resort on the way back and pulled in. This beach was spectacular; big, open, sandy, warm sea, and virtually empty (apart from a few crabs).

This is the nice beach
and to top the day off a picture of Ginas tits a hermit crab!

This mountain looked nice in the sunset on the way back too with the clouds passing by:
