Photography Competition – Weather

August 9, 2010 · 8 comments

Competition time again! All my budding photographer readers can enter this one courtesy of Lloyds TSB. The competition requires you capture British weather (so the photo needs to be taken in GB). Simple enough – turn up in the UK, point your camera to the sky and shoot! The prize money is a cool £10,000. How's that for incentive? You could even buy a nice coat to cope with the weather with that money.

British Weather in London

Lloyds TSB are running the competition to celebrate many years of insuring against the British elements so are in search for the British weather photographer of the year who will receive the grand £10k prize. There is also a weekly prize (won by the photo which receives the most votes) of £100.

Another rainy dayUnfortunately it is only open to residents of the UK over the age of 18, and you can't be employed by Lloyds TSB Insurance either. You also cannot be a professional photographer, as that's cheating :-). Check their website for the rest of the terms.

You can however, if you meet the requirements, submit multiple photos. What you think is your second best weather photo, the judges and public might rank #1, so go ahead and send them all in to maximise your chance of winning.

The competition is from 13th April to the 30th September. So I expect a few sunshine shots as well as wet ones knowing this island. So get out hiking and find a nice spot to capture the magic!

The 12 finalists will have their photos displayed in a public exhibition for a week in London before the final decision is made.

The Judges will make their decision in November and are 3 photographers and a weather man (see here to learn more about them and the competition in general.

Capturing drizzle in the Northwest shouldn’t be too tricky at the moment!

Great competition, although winning could postpone my job hunting for even longer, hehe!

Nice comp, British weather is rather dramatic so it will make some cool pics.

Anyone who captures a rainbow and a thunderstrike will win it in my opinion :-)

My photo had the most votes for the past week, but I was shocked to see that a different photo was displayed as the photo of the week.

Do you know of any email I could use to contact Lloyd tsb about this?

Thanks
