Esperance

So I went on the Lonely Planet forum and asked if there is anything in particular I should see on a drive from Perth to Sydney.

Pretty much everyone with experience of the drive said the same thing: Go to Esperance.

One of many Esperance beaches

Now, I could tell you about the glass factory, museum, art gallery, or even the place called Mermaid leather, which is Australia’s only fish and shark leather specialist all in Esperance; But I didn’t go to any of them, I did what everyone does in Esperance – go to the beach.

Whether a beach to you is sunbathing, fishing, surfing or diving, Esperance has it covered. The clear water and shallow slopes makes it a great place to relax and take in some rays (whether that’s sunrays or stingrays).

Clear salty water

The water is not the only clean part of Esperance either…

Anal sign

Esperance is a clean place...

Yes Stokes Bay is not exactly a must see on visits to the UK ;-)

Candice – it’s probably the nicest area I went to in Australia if you like beaches :-)

Rob, what other places you would recommend to visit on the road between Adelaide and Perth? Esperance on the list, also Baird Bay(seals colony) and Valey of Giants. Will be there in 3-4 weeks. Not the best time for visiting beaches in SA and South WA, but hopefully won’t be too cold yet :)

Nothing overly comes to mind, it gets a bit ‘samey’ after a while, Flinders Bay in the corner south west of WA (a days drive all along the coast from Perth) was pretty nice, and there is a lighthouse there.

It’s more the trip than the destinations that made the moments for me :-)

Ciki – Indeed! Esperance has quite a few beaches, all are nice, I remember one guy there telling me to come join him on another beach as it was better, but I stayed were as I was as… well there was girls on the one I was on.
