The reclining Buddha through Wat Pho supporting pillars
Wat Pho, nearby the Grand Palace in Bangkok houses the largest reclining Buddha in the world at 46 metres long and 15 metres high. The actual Wat itself covers 80,000 square metres of space.
With the building held up centrally by pillars taking a direct picture is impossible, only a glance through the pillars to see the happy face relaxing.
All this means the classic pose is from the feet upwards as seen to the side.
But what most people fail to mention on their trip to Wat Po is the background music. In this case the chiming of coins hitting the bottom of a metal pot. Changing the donated 20Tbh into quarters means you get 80 coins to drop into the provided pots meaning a constant stretched ‘ting’ along the length of the sleeping Buddha giving a relaxing atmosphere for those who come to wonder at the marvel of this structure.

Wonderful! I would love to hear that sound!
It is a bit like wind chimes as the quarters were really lightweight, which is what I assumed it was until I got round the other side and saw what was happening :)
Which would you say is larger the giant statue at Batu Caves or this reclining chap?
From memory, I couldn’t really tell because of the inclination being 90° difference between them.
However, I did a quick check and the Batu Caves statue of Murugan is 42.6M tall which makes the reclining Buddha bigger at 46M. :)
