Tour of Sandakan: Part 2

There is a small 100 year old Chinese temple in Sandakan, it is a bit out of place now with Sandakan built around it.

I went for a quick look around the town, ultimately it is 3 small long streets filled with shops catering for locals. I ate a snack at a resturant called ‘Tomato’ which was nice and I’d recommend if anyone is passing by, it’s easy to find on a corner of one of the streets.

Whilst walking down the street I came across Phui Wan, my host, it is like she said, a small town, and easy to bump into people.

We got in the car and picked up her sons from school. She drove me up the hill to the same view point as Lim took me during the night time, you can see difference in the pictures.

Afterwards she showed me where she used to live and took me to another part of the hill overlooking Sandakan where a Buddist Temple is. Whilst not the most grand of temples it was still stunning inside and the garden was well maintained with the Swastika tree plantation in full glory (not to be confused with Hitlers version of the Swastika!).

Hey, I’m not that fat!
I went in, it was quite small, what you can see in the pic is about 1/3 of it.
