I also love the Eyewitness books because their maps are so spectacular. However, I'm using a Rough Guide for New Zealand and find Rough Guide's practical information to be much more useful. Eyewitness also doesn't really give "reviews" or tell you which site is good versus which one is bad; it just lays everything out for you to decide. But, I do love their maps and visual content.

I have mixed feelings on the EyeWitness books. I really enjoy the quality of visual content, but often find the information a little too condensed to use it as my sole travel guide.
