What the hell? It’s Tuesday and something is released on Yes this is a blog and it’s got way too predictable in my eyes, structuring tips/guides on a Monday, a Photo on Wednesday and a destination story on Friday. What kind of blog has a structure like that? An anal one. If there is one thing I’ve not talked about before, it’s anal, so things need to change around here (I mean less structure, not more ass).

Too much like a travel site (which is hard to run and keep updated with one consistent contributor) and getting less personal in every post, it’s time for a change, I wrote my about page about… what this website is about, and it’s time to stick to it more often.

I’ve not actually been travelling the past 3 months, I’ve been plotting away and achieving little in Perth, there really isn’t much to do here. However early December I am leaving for an epic drive across Australia to reach Sydney for New years celebration. So why not get a bit more personal?

Things I need to do this week:

  1. Get a vehicle to travel across Australia with, preferably a legal and working one with air con (it can get to mid 40 degree centigrade in the out back – doesn’t sound pleasent to transverse in a tin can).
  2. Go to an island named by Dutch explorers as ‘rat’s nest’.
  3. Finalise the design for this website – what do you think of the revamped design anyway?
  4. Start another website purely to make money as my savings are dwindling.
  5. Get an article published (preferably paid).
  6. Get a haircut (probably really short for summer).

On the money aspects my income this week totals a whopping £0.15. Make money on your travel blog? It takes a lot more effort than you think.

Finally, check out my sweet new camera lens; it’s the biggest zoom lens on the market: the Tamron 18-270mm and is awesome! Makes me look like I know what I’m doing even more!

I finished a travel writing course too (more on that later) one thing they teach you is to end blog posts with a question to get more comments, so here it is:

What do you think of and where should it be heading?

That’ll help me make some decisions rather than guess everything you guys want :-) Please leave a comment!

Hell yeah! Rob, it’s like your writing is entirely different when you get personal, hahaha. I love it, the comedy. Now STICK TO IT.

I want to hear about your personal experiences. ‘Nuff said.

I’m brand new to your corner of the blogosphere. I think I’d like to see you share more personal things. What’s going on up in the mind, etc.

I have a question – What are your favorite 3 posts you’ve ever written? (One’s that tell a lot about you) Link me! I wanna read them.

I agree with Candice about your writing. And I was really confused until #6 – I totally forgot Australia was coming up on summer lol

Thanks for comments!

What about video? I shall knock a couple of them up and see if people like them too.

A quick note here: I’m not sure how many people are getting this, but nearly every post has extra comments on the photo’s. Just hover your mouse over them and they come up, usually it’s my humour again sneaking in there but if I can’t think of anything funny it expands on what is in the photo.

Candice – I do need to inflict my sense of humour on more people ^_^

Welcome Katie :^) – I’ve had a rough plan to add a tab on the navigation menu to the right on my favourite posts, as it turns out they are the more personal ones too that I have drifted away from writing recently and ‘feature’ my sense of humour.

Check out:

What’s for dinner? Cat?

Abbie – I’m not used to it myself either. Saw an advert here recently – ‘Outdoor cinema opens for summer in November and closes in March.’ It confused the hell out of me.

I second the personal posts, I like ones that give an infusion of the place, and your unique take on it :-) And I am wicked jealous by that gorgeous camera btw ;-)

Not sure if you were serious about the 0.15 from the blogs, but its actually one of the reasons I ditched google adsense from my blog recently, it just wasn’t worth it and I think they turn away a lot of readers. Lucky the photos are paying their (an my) way in the meantime…

Personally I think you should stick to writing good content and eventually things will come together :)

Unfortunately the 15p was serious, and that’s the most I’ve made in a while too!

I don’t like adverts, they destroy a websites look; but I need to pay for hosting and such like somehow, so am looking into alternative methods as the adverts on here just don’t work.

Thanks Neha :-) The humour is making a comeback! I have watched some of my favourite shows from home recently, which has helped restore it too.

Header is a pic I took in Singapore, It’s not fixed; The plan is to update it to a picture of the country I’m currently in (so it changes when I move country or city), but I’ve not got a picture from Australia yet that I’m happy with to lead my website :-)
